Douglas West Wind Farm Extension

Location

Douglas West Wind Farm Extension is located on the eastern part of the Cumberhead Forest complex that lies to the north-west of Douglas and south of Coalburn in rural South Lanarkshire.

Current Stage

The Section 36 Application was consented by the Scottish Ministers on the 18th November 2021. The Determination Notice and Decision Letter can be viewed here:

Consent has been granted for the construction and operation of Douglas West Wind Farm Extension, an electricity generating station comprising 13 wind turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 200 metres and energy storage facility with a total generating capacity around 98 megawatts (MW), with 78MW of generation from the wind farm and 20MW from the energy storage facility.

Project History

Douglas West Extension Ltd is a joint venture between Lanark-based 3R Energy and ScottishPower Renewables (UK) Limited (SPR).

In April 2019 Douglas West Extension Ltd submitted a Section 36 Application to the Scottush Government for Douglas West Wind Farm Extension.
